In March 1980 a little baby boy was born in the land of the Tango, Gauchos & most importantly Carne, Argentina.
Exactly 5 months later and 11,445 km away a little baby girl was born in the land of the Tulips & Windmills, the Netherlands.
More than 3 decades later, on "2e Kerstdag" (2nd Xmas day) they found each other under their friend's Xmas tree; the beginning of an unexpected journey...

Come back soon for more information about the plans; and feel free to join whenever you feel like :)
Transportation
Our picturesque hometown Amersfoort is located in the center of the Netherlands, only a 40 minute train ride away from Schiphol Airport and easily to be reached over road/rail track. For those visiting us from abroad, good deals can often be found in SkyScanner.
Private taxis can be find just outside the main entrance to Schiphol Airport Arrivals or at the train station level. Although taxi’s are obviously more expensive than public transport, one can reduce the taxi costs by pre-booking a taxi in advance. There are various taxi companies offering transportation between Schiphol and Amersfoort; the price per way is normally around 60 euro’s and a taxi can be shared with a maximum of 4 persons:
Upon arrival at Schiphol, it’s also possible to hire a car which will obviously give a bit more flexibility during the time of stay in the NL. All major car rentals (e.g. Sixt, Europcar, Budget, etc…) have offices at Schiphol Plaza directly behind Arrivals 3 (opening hours from 06.00 to 23.00) from where you can pick up the rented car. To prevent the stress and hassle of hunting for good prices on the spot, one could pre-book a rental car online in advance.
Sites that might offer good deals:
Below Schiphol Plaza, you’ll find the train station of Schiphol. From there, every half an hour (.37 and .07) a super speedy direct train departs to Amersfoort, normally from platform 1 or 2. The trip to Amersfoort takes up to 43 minutes and costs about 10 euro’s per person.
The last direct train departs at 23.37 o clock. If you arrive later (yet before 00.11), it’s still possible to travel by train to Amersfoort - albeit then you have to change trains at least once. Check for information about traveling by train in the Netherlands and the timetable NS.
Train tickets can be bought at one of the many yellow ticket machines with the blue overhead sign reading ‘traintickets’. The machines can be found at Schiphol Plaza near the platforms. From the machines, you can either purchase a single-use (disposable) chipcard or an anonymous ov-chipcard. More information about the differences between the different ov-chipcards can be found here.
by Bus
Within Amersfoort, there is a network of local busses connecting the different parts of the city. More information on traveling by bus in Amersfoort can be found on 9292. This site also provides more information on traveling with an ov-chipcard; single-use chipcards can be bought in the bus.
Things To Do
Things-to-Do, Things-to-See & Where-to-Eat in and around our lovely hometown Amersfoort!
2 eieren
200 gram bruine basterd suiker
125 gram ongezouten roomboter
75 gram bloem
Bakblik (voor dit recept gebruiken wij een bakblik van 20 bij 15)
Optioneel: 200 gram mascarpone
Bereidingswijze:
Enjoy!

Heavenly brownies with mascarpone
The very first (and let’s be honest, most important) ingredient of our all time favorite brownie was given as a ‘sweet surprise’ after the wedding. To really end up with something really jummy, you’ll have to work a bit in the kitchen though ;-)
Besides the 125 gram pure 70% chocolate, the following ingredients are needed:
2 eggs
200 gram brown bastard sugar
125 gram unsalted butter
75 gram flour
Baking tray (for this recipe, we used a tray of 20 cm x 15 cm)
Baking paper
Optional: 200 gram mascarpone
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Break chocolate into small pieces
Melt butter in a small sauce pan on a low fire
Add pieces of chocolate to the butter and let slowly melt, while stirring. Take pan from fire once chocolate is melted, and let cool down
Mix eggs with brown bastard sugar in a bowl
Stir chocolate butter through egg-sugar-mixture
Sieve flour, and stir super gently with a spatula through the chocolate mixture
Cover baking tray with baking paper
Pour half of the chocolate mixture in baking tray
Cover first chocolate layer with a layer of mascarpone and spread it evenly over chocolate layer
Pour remaining chocolate mixture on top of mascarpone and spread it evenly with the back of a spoon to cover mascarpone-layer completely
Put the brownie in the oven for roughly 25 to 30 minutes. Brownie is done when the top is dry and crunchy with a soft and slightly sticky inside…
Enjoy!

Accomodations
Amersfoort has a very picturesque historic inner city, with lovely canal houses, historical monuments, churches (be prepared for some bell tolling in the weekend...), plenty of good restaurants, shops and – if the weather is – terraces. Most of the hotels and B&B's are located in and around the centre. From the centre, our wedding location, het Centraal Ketelhuis, can be easily reached by taxi or by bus (9292). Every half an hour a bus (bus 1) departs from the main train station (Centraal Station) in the direction of het Centraal Ketelhuis; this bus also passes by the city centre at bus stop ‘Stadhuis’. Hop off at the bus stop ‘Emmauskerk’; from here it’s a 5-minute walk to the venue.
Some accommodations worth checking out:

(but not all) of the rooms have shared bathroom facilities…
Hotel the Gaaper is situated in a monumental building offering modern rooms
featuring high quality beds and great views over the centre. The hotel is on one of
the main squares, het Hof, where you’ll find plenty of terraces and, on Saturday, a
lively market with veggies, meat, fish, breadies and more. There are some studios for
rent too.
